Balbinny is an exclusive, luxury, holiday home hamlet of dreams. I am desperate to book in a wee holiday here for myself actually. So what exactly is so great about Balbinny?, and what sets it apart from all the other holiday homes around Scotland? I'd say that 95% of holiday homes/cottages/lodges in Scotland are just the holiday home. You get the house and that's it. You venture out on your travels to look around the area and then come back. Great. And there's nothing wrong with that. But Balbinny offers oh so much more than that. When building these unique, self-catering accommodations on the family farm (which has been held in the Milne family for hundreds of years), there was clearly a decision made as the process went on that - if we're going to do this, lets do it properly! This project clearly grew arms and legs. And for us, that's a very good thing - because booking a holiday here comes with a huge amount of fun little extras. They say you're only one swim away from a good mood, and guess what - Balbinny has a stunning swimming pool complex with panoramic views across the Angus glens and onto the Cairngorms. They also have a gym and treatment room, where you can organise a blissful massage to further enhance your wind-down experience. Two of the properties have their own wood-fired outdoor hot tubs complete with mood lighting and music! There's a tennis court and kids play area overlooking a field of Highland cows! Two of the properties have the cutest grass roofs - these are the Brochs. But on top of these fabulous fun extras, Balbinny has been built with style and substance! Sustainable energy fuels this cute cottage collection and much of the original old steading's stone and timber has been re-used in the making of these contemporary, new, super insulated, beauties. The result - a completely up to date look with bags of character and interesting features. The decor is clean and comfortable with high-end design touches such as Anglepoise lighting, Rockett St George chairs, and soft furnishings from Graham and Greene. There's a variety of lovely textures and all the modern conveniences you could possibly wish for - Sonos speakers, wine fridge, balcony and wood burning stove. THIS PLACE IS FABULOUS FOR FAMILIES! Mum can go get a massage, and Dad can take the kids to learn to swim, and then swap. Older kids can roam around the farm tracks and the playpark while you relax on a sumptuous leather danish inspired chair with a large glass of wine and those views - oh those views! Group get togethers and even a corporate retreat of some kind would work well here. Or a romantic couple weekend away from everything. In fact, a yoga holiday or wellness retreat would work so well here too. You get my drift, it's versatile, and there's plenty of space. And of course, when you want to venture out, you've got 22 golf courses close by! Also, distilleries, castles, hills to climb, beaches to comb and beautiful coastal villages to explore. I'm in!
