It’s difficult to know what to say about this house, it’s almost beyond words. I feel as though I am constantly saying that particular places are ‘so amazing’, I’ve cried wolf too many times and now you’re not going to believe me, but I mean, come on – look at this house… DREAMY DELICIOUS PERFECT SOPHISTOCATION…. Yes, ‘So Amazing’!!!!! Balnakeilly House is a 16th century Scottish mansion in Perthshire that’s just had a one million pound refurbishment. Lets just take a minute to actually think about what that means. This house is 500 years old!!!!! That is OLD!, that is like ridiculously old. There are many countries in the world that were not established when this house was getting its shit together. That in itself is absolutely fascinating – THINK of the history of this house, think about what these walls have seen……… Ok next part, it was bought by some lovely person who has spent one million pounds just on the refurbishment. One million pounds doesn’t even include the original cost of the house! That is insane, and I feel a little emotional because someone has obviously done this for their love of Scotland, and their love of the beauty of this building - and it’s only right and proper that we applaud and thank this person for doing this. The man with a passion for Scotland is a lovely Dane of course. We do love the Danish here in Scotland, and we trust them with our properties. His name is Dan Svenningsen. Well done Dan the Dane, let me buy you a drink some time. So, it’s exclusive use – what does that actually mean? It means that to be able to stay here you probably need to be organizing a corporate event, wedding or big private event – because you can only hire the whole house. I was very surprised to see that at the moment you seem to be able to hire the house for one night at the very reasonable rate of £1250. If you divide that amongst 8 couples, you can get together and rent it for a weekend for just £312 per couple! You can of course spread the cost over 13 couples if you need to, as there are 13 bedrooms. I’m sure the price goes up in the better weather but why not book an amazing winter party for a special occasion? Here are the full details… Balnakeilly House was designed and built by Scottish architect Charles Sim. Located in the Scottish Highlands in the picturesque town of Pitlochry with breathtaking views over the Tummel Valley, the house has been beautifully renovated and boasts 13 bedrooms all individually designed and thoughtfully named after members of the Stewart-Wilson family who lived there for five centuries. Balnakeilly is set in its own private estate with 2000 acres of land which includes a 2.4m standing stone, a stunning walled garden and extensive woodland. The interior design of Balnakeilly House was led by Operations Manager Sophie McGown. It’s nice that the person running your event actually knows the house so well, often this isn’t the case. Let me tell you, Sophie is tal-en-ted! The interiors are heaven. Sophie previously ran the operations at her family's business, East Haugh House (Scotland's Hotel of the Year 2018), for over 15 years, and recently redesigned their 12 bedrooms. The focus was kept on incorporating many of the original features whilst giving an injection of colour and eclectic modern furniture, with a Nordic and Scottish design influence, complementing original pieces and antique artworks. The team have worked very hard to be mindful of Balnakeilly’s history, working closely with the previous family who have provided many fascinating artifacts which remain in the house today, such as the original family tree going back 500 years! You can fit 40 for a seated dinner, or add a marquee outside on the lawn for a larger event.
