Braemar Castle

I’m popping this onto the list as I’ve become obsessed with their Instagram account. Not the most scientific of reasonings I know… sorry. But seriously, it’s a true medieval castle and worthy of its place here for a number of reasons... The history of the castle is genuinely interesting, it has a star shaped curtain wall around it which is most unusual and it’s in a paradise perfect location in the Cairngorm National Park. It’s also very plausible that if you come to visit, you will spot some red deer, red squirrels, golden eagles and, if you’re very lucky, the elusive capercaillie. I’d hate to see an original medieval building like this go to ruin and so it’s important we keep using it, to keep it alive. ‘Use it or lose it’ has become my mantra. Joyfully, they hire it out for weddings, filming and parties. I’d LOVE to come here for a New Years party and live out some kind of medieval Scottish fantasy dressed up in authentic costume. Wouldn't you? Ok, I’ve done my bit, I hope I’ve inspired you to take a look at this enchanting little Scottish gem. (Suitable for small weddings or events.)
