The Dakota brand was conceived and developed by Ken McCulloch. The hotel interiors were designed by Amanda Rosa Interiors (Ken McCulloch's wife), who also designed the Malmaison brand and the fabulous original interiors for 1 Devonshire Gardens (If anyone remembers this hotel - it was a fabulous hotel in the West End of Glasgow and is still pretty fabulous now under the De Vere brand). I guess what I'm trying to say is this hotel is beautifully designed and put together. I absolutely love Amanda Rosa design. She is one of the best hotel designers ever, in my book - up there with the likes of Kelly Hoppen, Anoushka Hempel and Kit Kemp... just saying! This couple have done so much good stuff for Scotland in terms of keeping it up to date with the rest of the UK - on the hospitality design front. Long live this hard working, brilliant partnership. Oh, and by the way. If you want to stay in a fabulous hotel in Glasgow - stay here. They also have a good Dakota Hotel near Edinburgh too.
