New for October 2018! John and Suzie really have sprinkled some seriously stylish magic dust on this gorgeous exclusive hire Georgian mansion. But oh what beautiful bones of a building they had to work with from the start. Just look at that space, in that location – don’t you just wish that was your actual home! Dun Aluinn is a majestic beaut of a house! Sitting within it’s own 5 acres of Perthshire parkland with a terrace and views over Aberfeldy and the Tay Valley to Schiehallion, it has absolutely everything going for it. When I say ‘sprinkle some dust’ that makes it sound easy, and that’s what this type of exceptional quality and design does – make the whole thing look so natural and easy - simplistic perfection. But of course, I know that it has been far from easy - a MAJOR renovation project for this couple, with every inch of this building being completely and perfectly overhauled and smoothed out. Well done team Dun Aluinn, sit down and have a rest now - you've earned it. It is so refreshing to see simple, contemporary design with absolutely no chintz. Scotland in places, badly needs an update – and it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside to see such fresh clean lines making the most of the original features - with bright pops of colour added to give warmth and interest. Cutting straight to the chase - here are just some of the reasons why I LOVE Dun Aluinn - Chic contemporary styling and all brand spanking NEW as of October 2018 - Stunning views from every window - Perfect for a group holiday with 9 bedrooms – all ensuite - Perfect for a small wedding, or make it bigger with a marquee out front - It has an outdoor hot tub and absolutely stunning terrace. One of the showers is also a steam room! - There is a high tech, dark and moody cinema room - WOW! - Ballintaggart are on call to cater should you need them – incredible local catering company! - The centre piece of the house is the solid bronze table which Susie designed. It seats 20 and it is 5.5 metres long, with an oak top. It is the longest bronze table in the world! - Although the house is hidden away in it's own elevated position, it's just a short stroll from the cute village of Aberfeldy and the Habitat cafe, which I hear does the best coffee in Scotland! - Ok, ok, this list is getting ridiculously long I know. But if you're into this house then it's worth having ALL the info. The intricate and carefully positioned spot lighting and mood lighting is ACTUALLY what sets this house apart from all the others. At night is when all of this comes into play and the magic happens. But don’t just enjoy reading about this listing – go ahead and book it!! Holiday House I think when people looking for a holiday house see the words ‘exclusive use’, they get a little scared and think ‘oh, that place is for weddings and probably really expensive’. I really want to challenge this thought process. A house like this is PERFECT for a large family holiday and you will not get charged any wedding venue type supplements. However like any business, certain times of the year are likely to be more cost accessible – it’s really worth enquiring!! Celebrations and Weddings Dun Aluinn of course does small and large events and celebrations equally well. A big birthday, anniversary or wedding will be made special just by being hosted here, but really add the wow factor by hiring local superstars, Ballintaggart, to organise a fabulous banquet, buffet or food package for you. Dun Aluinn can accommodate 50 guests sat down for dinner inside the house in the main drawing room, or add a marquee on the lawn if you need to. Interiors and Styling If you’re a nosy interiors geek like me, you might want to know about all the incredible design features and some of the back-story of this place. Susie is the architect/designer who has worked in San Francisco, New York and Ireland - so brings a wealth of experience and an international feel to Dun Aluinn. John and Suzie have a building company based in Crieff, where they specialise in renovating old and listed buildings in Scotland www.corryard.com. They have a real passion for high quality workmanship and finishes, which is extremely evident here. They have very kindly given me some of the details of the companies they used in the house. (Don’t tell me we don’t spoil you here at Chic Scotland). Here goes - All the bathroom showers and taps were from Dornbracht, the stunning oak basin tops were from a company in Devon called William Garvey - they also supplied the Japanese Oforu Teak Bath. All the bedlinen and towels are from Josephine Home. There's a B&B Italia bed in the maser bedroom, and B&B Italia Tuffy Time orange sofa in the lounge - I love it! The sofa in the sitting room is from XVL in Belgium. One of the other beds is from a German company called Zeitraum – it’s made from solid walnut. All the rugs are from Denmark - Linie Design, and vintage Danish lights and mirrors have been used throughout. Susie designed the kitchen - walnut, with brass inlay - a timeless design and super high quality, supplied by Braco Design. There is an additional utility room with dishwashers and fridges galore. Oh my goodness, I’m in interiors heaven. Invent an excuse to hire this house now! A bold and brilliant choice! CHIC SCOTLAND EXTRA!
