As far as castle hotels go, this one is definitely one of the best in Scotland. Glenapp is a beautiful Relais & Chateaux listed hotel with 36 acres of exquisite gardens. They have a gorgeous, elegant restaurant and the furniture, art, and history all come together to give it charm and character in abundance. Think ‘you’ve been invited to be guests at Downton Abbey for the weekend’. This Victorian Baronial beauty is located south of Ayr, and is actually a fabulous spot for a wedding, corporate event or team building day too. If you stay, you become part of the Glenapp ‘family’ and are treated as such. This is such a genuinely warm and welcoming place, and possibly the photos don’t quite do it justice, in comparison to how you feel when you actually stay at this hotel. They can organise a plethora of different activities for you, such as the more usual fishing, golf, distillery and castle tours, or more unusual activities such as perfume making, photography courses, cooking experiences or even a genealogy course! But you may not want to do anything beyond enjoying the castle and meandering around the estate. You’ll certainly need the 36 acres to walk off the calories you consumed with all the mouthwatering meals you’ll enjoy. By the way, even if you’re not staying at the castle, I hear the Sunday lunch is well worth exploring. An exceptionally warm and friendly welcome awaits you upon your arrival at fabulous Glenapp. Absolutely worth the money, don’t hesitate in booking!
