Highland Escape

About

Don’t hesitate to book this stunning 12 person self-catering house for a group holiday - what a beauty! However, I guess where this place really comes into its own is for a wedding, since it has its own adjoining church! This really is your intimate highland fantasy wedding location, right next to majestic Loch Ness. The other point I wish to emphasize before we get into the detail is just how well the refurb has been done. We're talking 5 star luxury with rare antiques from professional dealers, rather than a rummage through the local charity depot. This is 2 and a half years of work for one of the owners, Matthew – and absolutely no expense has been spared. I like to call it internationally professional - it could hold it’s own against any luxury accommodation in the world. They would definitely be deserving winners of some kind of accolade for this restoration. I hope they will enter into a few reputable competitions. 'Architectural Digest' or 'FT How to Spend It' maybe? Of course, you saw it on Chic Scotland first right! ;-) Here’s what they say about it: The Old Manse and it's connecting Church have stood on this site since around 1850. This beautiful highland Victorian beauty was run down and in need of a gentle hand to restore it to it's rightful glory. The team behind Highland-Escape have done just that, with lush interiors, smart antiques and furnishings that have spared no cost. There is more than a nod to the historic past of the Highlands in the myriad artworks that adorn the walls. This house tells a lively tale of the regions Jacobite past and it's characters in carefully curated style. A stone's throw from the shores of the Loch, the house sits over three floors, comprising six double bedrooms with four-poster and sleigh beds, two Drawing Rooms, a large Dining Room seating 12, a period country Kitchen (with all the modern amenities), a boot-room and ample space for groups of friends or family. The adjoining Church is a delightful addition which is available for guests to hire for weddings, blessings and civil ceremonies. It can accommodate around 120 in all. Extra details: The property is a celebration of Scottish art, history and Interiors. Internationally acclaimed Glaswegian designers Timorous Beasties feature in the house, as does Mulberry and Designers Guild to compliment each interior space. The house is full of period features from local antiques dealers and the 'Snug' is where you will find plenty of literature on the local area, the history of the Old Manse and books in Scottish history. The team behind Highland-Escape.com are siblings Matthew and Magda. Matthew has had a long career working in the music industry in London overseeing large productions as Insurance and Risk management Director, whilst Magda has been working on super yachts based in Monaco, Italy and the South of France. Matthew worked tirelessly on the project for two and a half years. (Well done Matthew – great job). The type of guest who would enjoy staying at The Old Manse is someone with an appreciation for fine art, history and a love of the outdoors. We hope to launch in the early spring 2020 a range of packages which will suit foodies, history lovers and country sports men and women.

Loch Ness gem

We had an amazing 4 night stay at this property in December 2019. The property was beautifully presented both inside and out with each room filled with antique furniture, art & rugs. The beds were high quality and the pillows extremely comfy. The main positive of this property though is its location. The house is right on the loch front with 180 views up and down the Loch Ness. We discovered some great walking routes up in the hills behind the property and around the Loch. The management (who are on site) were discreet but very helpful throughout our stay and they were always on hand to help with tips and advice. Would recommend to anyone
