Kilcamb Lodge Hotel
Kilcamb has got soo much going for it. They have recommendations and awards aplenty from Sawdays, Conde Nast, Michelin – you name it. They probably don’t need more attention from Chic Scotland in order to fill their rooms. However…. to honor my concern of being a comprehensive database, I do absolutely need to tell you about this small but perfectly formed hotel. So lets talk, location… em…. STU-NING! It is on a large finger of land which protrudes into the Atlantic Ocean just north of Oban and South of Ft William. It is also the gateway to all the small Inner Hebridean Islands including Mull, Iona, Muck, Egg, Rum, Coll and Tiree. There are some magnificent seascapes, wonderful mountain climbs, deserted white sandy beaches which would rival the best the Caribbean can offer (maybe without quite the same weather). But as Billy Connolly would say ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing! Excellent walking and bird watching, extraordinary wildlife - seals, eagles, dolphins, whales, otters, wildcats, red squirrels and red deer. The hotel itself has 12 glorious Scottish bedrooms, and you can book the exact room you want to stay in after analyzing the photos on the website, which I love. The food is also a particular highlight with fresh seafood in abundance and perfectly formed dishes done by the excellent head chef. They are very dog friendly, so perfect for taking your 4 legged best friends on holiday with you. This is a hidden, highland beauty hard to beat!
