The Barn at Barra

I’m completely biased about this venue because it’s on home turf and it’s been lovingly built by a couple who I really like – Sarah and David Stephen are the team behind the Barn at Barra. They are such honest, hardworking people and will undoubtedly go on to be very successful with this new venue and accompanying holiday cottages. Set in the grounds of 13th century castle, this barn conversion is newly opened (May 2017), so it’s in pristine condition and no expense has been spared. It’s mega huge and can host a BIG wedding. However, you can also close off sections very easily to create a more intimate wedding. Or, use different sections for different things through the day. The view out of the floor to ceiling windows spreads right across the length of the barn and looks onto unspoiled countryside for as far as the eye can see. You can do as much or as little in terms of décor and it will still all look perfect. The other major benefit of this venue is that it doesn’t come with a huge accommodation price tag – you are just paying for the use of the barn for the day or two days. However, they do have holiday cottages on the estate which are beautiful if you need accommodation close by. The chic lodges in the grounds are not to be overshadowed by the barn, they in themselves are stunning gate house conversions and offer luxury accommodation for a holiday or trip. Ramsay and Seton Lodge both have luxury king size suites with kitchen and living area – £140 per night. (Sleeps 2 or 3/4 with double sofa bed). Abercrombie Lodge is a two bed, two bathroom lodge with kitchen and living area - £220 per night. (Sleeps 4 or 5/6 with double sofa bed).
