The Craigellachie

Where does Kate Moss book out for a party in the UK? Why here of course! The Craigellachie is the home of the Quaich whisky bar (which boasts the biggest selection of Speyside Whiskys in the land!). The Craigellachie on the banks of the River Spey is a 26 room boutique hotel offering a superior Scottish Highlands experience. With a beautiful setting overlooking the river, the hotel provides access to all the region has to offer, including distillery visits, fishing, shooting and the nearby House of Mulben. The 120-year-old country hotel was re-opened in 2015 after a £3m refurbishment. It is better known as an ‘angler’s paradise’, and the River Spey is famous for salmon, sea trout and brown trout fishing. Speyside features the largest concentration of Scotch whisky distilleries in the country including Glenfiddich and Macallan. The hotel also features a billiards room and a basement cinema room which can be used for private screenings – cool! There is something special about The Craigellachie and Speyside. There is a real sense of community in the area and the Craigellachie continues to be part of that. Throughout the hotel each of the 28 bedrooms have been restored, maintaining original features such a fireplaces and antique furniture, the en-suites have also been refurbished in keeping with the traditional feel of the hotel. Many of the fabrics used in the soft furnishings have been sourced from local mills and the shortbread and water are from local businesses. The Copper Dog is part of the hotel but also very much a local pub showcasing the best of local fare and much of the food and ingredients have been sourced within a 20 mile radius. Good to know! I hear they are also VERY good at weddings! ;-)
