You could almost claim that this restaurant is responsible for raising the tone of the whole of Finnieston, all on it’s own. Well maybe not, but it is certainly a major part of the rejuvenation and revival of the area into the culinary hot spot of Scotland. In case you hadn’t heard, there are some FAN-TAS-TIC independently owned restaurants on this end of Argyll street, which used to be home to a couple of dodgy old man’s bars and residential flats. But that is what’s wonderful about Glasgow, they can take a dark row of flats and create such light, warmth and artistry inside. The Gannet is perfect for intimate couple dining, as well as larger parties. Both chefs and front of house have exceptional knowledge and skill, and it shows from the minute you walk in the door. The plates of food here are mouthwatering and also look amazing – style and substance. The taster menu comes highly recommended – 6 courses perfectly matched to wines – such bliss! If you’re in Glasgow, don’t miss the Gannet.
